Memorials and Tribute Gifts
Honor Someone Special With a Future Gift in Their Name
If you have a loved one who holds the mission of the Diocese of Scranton in high regard, establishing a memorial or tribute gift is a meaningful way to honor your loved one or celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday while supporting the work of our mission. Your memorial or tribute gift will be a lasting tribute to your loved one and make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
An Example of How It Works
When someone dies, friends or family members may wish to make a gift that would establish a lasting legacy for that person. A gift to the Diocese of Scranton provides a fitting tribute to someone who believed strongly in supporting the Diocese during their lifetime.
One option for a tribute or memorial gift is to make a donation to the Diocese of Scranton in someone’s name using appreciated securities. In this way, the donor will receive a federal income tax charitable deduction (because he/she itemizes his/her taxes) and eliminated capital gains tax on the securities.
